John Sanderson Wells
(1872 - 1955)
John Sanderson-Wells (1872 – 1955) was an English artist who specialized in sporting and animal painting. He was a painter of genre scenes, sporting events, hunts and animals. Besides scenes of traditional hunts, he illustrated famous episodes of horse races.
Sanderson-Wells was born in 1872. He studied at the Slade School of Art in London, and later at the Academie Julian in Paris. From 1895 he was a regular contributor at the Royal Academy and was elected to the Royal Institute in 1903. He exhibited at Royal Academy in London from 1895 to 1904.
